Advia Credit Union is proud to celebrate its young members with higher education scholarships totaling $42,000.
This year, a total of 32 graduating high school students were each awarded $1,000 Advia’s Youth Scholarship, while two additional students each received $5,000 as part of the Cheryl A. DeBoer Soar Higher Award. The Youth Scholarship Program is for graduating high school seniors who exhibit academic achievement, leadership skills, and commitment to community. The Soar Higher Award is designed specifically for Western Michigan University’s College of Aviation students currently enrolled or recently accepted into the program.
After a rigorous selection process, a panel of judges composed of Advia representatives carefully evaluated numerous applications from talented individuals across our communities.
"I will be forever grateful for the generous scholarship that was awarded me. College is expensive, and I'm so grateful to be supported by my community. Advia is not just my bank anymore, but now an investor in my future. Thank you to everyone who makes this scholarship possible so people like me can achieve their dreams with less financial stress on their shoulders," said Cailyn Hutton, a youth scholarship winner and graduating student from St. Clair High School planning to attend University of Michigan in the Fall.
“This generous support has significantly impacted my journey as a pilot and has eased my financial burden, allowing me to focus on my studies and flight training at Western Michigan University,” said Gideon Kipkemoi, a Soar Higher award recipient currently enrolled at WMU’s College of Aviation.
“It was exceptional to see these young students so driven by the same core values that Advia lives by, and I was honored to be a part of this process and to support our organization in recognizing our scholarship recipients for their hard work and continued dedication to higher education,” stated Lexi Lower, a Commercial Loan Operations Assistant Manager and 2025 Scholarship Judge for Advia Credit Union.
