In Memory of John VerSteeg, former President & CEO of First Community FCU
Advia Credit Union honors and remembers John VerSteeg, the former President & CEO of First Community FCU (ultimately becoming Advia CU in 2014).
John embodied the spirit of the credit union movement, dedicating 30 years of his career to being President & CEO of First Community FCU. John’s passion and commitment to our industry included an illustrious career as President & CEO, along with board roles within Michigan Corporate Credit Union, and other roles within the Kalamazoo county American Institute of Banking, Kalamazoo County Credit Managers Association, and the Kalamazoo Chapter of Credit Unions.
John’s servant life also included key roles within community programs such as Kalamazoo Guidance Clinic, The Reformed Church Theological Education in America, and The Consistory of Second Reformed Church. He served as President of Hope College Alumni Association, Kalamazoo Exchange Club, The Salvation Army Advisory Board, Interfaith Housing Association of Kalamazoo, Friendship Village, and Southwest Classis for The Reformed Church of America.
John passed away on June 10, 2022. His obituary details more about his incredible life. In honor of John, Advia will be donating to Kairos Dwelling.
